There’s extreme flexibility in choosing exposed aggregate as a solution for your outdoor setting — whether commercial, industrial, or residential.

Because we create exposed aggregate by mixing a variety of materials, we can alter the texture of the final product. If you’d like a rough floor surface, we can create a mix made primarily from angular materials like brick and gravel.

If you’d like a smoother textured flooring solution, we can create mixes made from sand and crushed stone, which we can polish back using industry leading equipment from Husqvarna.

Depending on what you want out of your floors, we can offer finish options which expose different layers of your concrete slab.

  • Surface polish finish (no exposure): No aggregate is exposed during the polishing process.
  • Salt and pepper finish: 1-2mm is ground off the top of the floor to reveal the sands in the aggregate and a small amount of rock.
  • Random exposure finish: 2-3mm is ground off the floor, exposing more aggregate. This is the preferred finish for preexisting slabs which are uneven.
  • Pavilion finish: For outdoor floors, the concrete is ground back to reveal the rock and then acid washed to etch the concrete paste. The acid wash makes the surface non-slip, and the pavilion finish looks like a traditional exposed aggregate floor, except smooth and comfortable to walk on.

The colours you’ll see in these kinds of floors include a mix of:

  • Grey
  • Black
  • Tan
  • Red
  • Pink
  • Blue

The colours come from the materials included in the mix. If you’ve chosen a solution which features a lot of brick, you’ll get more reds coming through in your flooring. If you’ve chosen a floor with more quartz, granite, and basalts, and seashells, you’ll find more a varied colour palette.

Exposed aggregate floors are slip-resistant, and highly durable. But, more than that, they can be crafted in eye-catching designs. It’s a floor solution with such variety and flexibility that you can achieve as much, or as little, as you want with this service.
